Mature, sophisticated servants...

Dear Mama,

I think I forgot to tell you, we'll be skyping. don't know exactly what time but I'll let you know next week.

So this week hasn't been the best number wise, but we took "C" on a church tour and that was nice. The Uncompahgre Christmas party was Friday and we went to a member's family party on Saturday. lots of fun. we also went to a baptism on Saturday in Montrose. Sisters B and B taught them. They're our Sister Trainer Leaders. Sister B is going home on Tuesday, she's from Taber! yay!

I love the Buffy tribute. We don't have a tree but everyone has Christmas lights. like, a lot. (Buffy is our albino hedgehog who died a few weeks ago)

Oh, I'm not getting transferred, neither is Sister D. Yay! Staying in Delta. And we will do awesome. We will baptize C and D. I am determined!

and thus is my life.

Loving you,

Kaylee

Gosh, I really don't know what to say...

Wow, sounds like you've had quite a week! Love that pic of Lola and Merlin. so cute! I only got the pictures that were attached to the Snow Day email. none of the others.

we had a really good week this week. we went on exchanges with our Sister bosses on Tuesday. that was awesome, but we had sort of a heart to heart after...I think my self esteem issues aren't doing so good... this is just hard and sometimes I feel inadequate... but I'm grateful for the nice things God does for me. we got to see the Christmas Devotional yesterday and one of the members we visited has a bearded dragon and they let me hold her. I was happy.

Gosh, I really don't know what to say, It's just been going by so fast... Lots of stuff has happened. all I know is that our numbers are steadily going up. Yay.
oh, the members we live with came home a few days ago and I finished the Book of Mormon on Saturday, more that a week ahead of schedule! I'm awesome.

so I'll send you some pics, It'll be cool.

Me and Sister "D"

Happy Thanksgiving!

No pictures this week because "somebody" forgot their card reader…HOWEVER, we both managed to be online at the same time and had a nice conversation via back and forth emails. FUN!! I did tell her that I needed a fabulous letter, and this is what she wrote...

Helooo Family!

This week has been hard cause of the holiday, most of our investigators either weren't home or too busy to see us. We did have Sister's conference in Grand Junction on Wednesday and that was real nice. President and Sister Murdock came and spoke. We were able to help out D with some yard work after that which was awesome. That's the first service I've done! I really love D, she's such a wonderful lady. I'm making her something for Christmas. Shhh... don't tell her…

On thanksgiving we played in the Turkey Bowl. that's the Delta ward all got together and played football. even me! and you know me, I don't football. I'll watch but I can not play. we had several dinner appointments but we could only go to two cause they were so close together. we had on at 2 with the H's then another at 4 With the S's. We had to roll our selves out of the house, so much food.

I'm pretty sure instrumental will be fine. I'm looking forward to having more music. I love music. (I questioned her about music she can listen to)

Christmas is coming! everyone has lights and decoration up and the music is playing and its nice. now that it's actually December I'm good with it all. its when they start decorating in mid November that I don't like.

For money we have a debit credit that they give us with $180 ish a month for food and such. So I use that.

It's getting cold here and they're calling for snow sometime later this week but it wont be too much. but it should be in the low teens in temp, that's in ferinhight for you Canadians who think that's not that cold. It's not that cold but my comp is from north Carolina so she's freezing all the time.

Thanks for the package, I got it on Friday. Thanks aunt Anita and uncle Derrick for yours too.

ok, one thing that happened tis week. we were playing around with an exercise ball on Thursday and I bounced it a bit too high and the light cover fell down and shattered... my bad. We bought a new one today so we'll fix it when we get home...my bad again...

We have exchanges on Friday with the Sister Trainer Leaders so we'll see how that goes. Transfers are coming quick and its more than likely that we'll be split up. we have 17 new Missionaries coming in and 10 are Sisters! the majority! so we're in need of trainers and I cant train but obviously my trainer can. So I'll probably get a follow up trainer coming here and Sister D will move on, but it's really impossible to say.

here you go momma, a nice letter for your blog.

love you lots,

Sister Johnson

oh forgot to tell you. that lady we live with is in California but should be home on Saturday or Sunday

D is an investigator. she's really spiritual and likes budist stuff. she wont quit smoking. is sad, but I love her.

7 gators and a diamond

Twas a short letter this week. She attached a photo supposedly of her and her companion, but a picture of some boots came instead. Hmmm…

Dear momma,

We have dinner appointments almost every night. We have like 3 for Thanksgiving.(she was asked if they went out on dinner appointments a lot…concerned mother thing)

I'm emailing Elder R so I know about the Ohio thing. I was just telling his that we have several visa missionaries here so it would have been fun if he came here but he'll have a good time in Ohio. (Elder R is her friend who was supposed to fly to Netherlands today, but flew to Ohio instead because of no Visa yet)

Ok so this week we got 7 new gators and one diamond. That's 7 investigators and one with a baptism date. 'C' is on Date!! But she didn't come to church this Sunday . :( sad face. We spoke in Delta sacrament... well Sister D spoke, I bore testimony and we sang in Unconphagre (the other ward they work in). Our gator 'D'came to that. We were soo happy. We didn't think she would cause we had had the W.o.W. lesson with her and it didn't go over well, but she came and that's what matters.

We got snow, not a lot, but the locals say it was the most they've had in years, soo…

Tell Sister Wasden I got her card and sent her something today.

oooo for Christmas I would like some CDs, Piano Guys and church stuff. They told us we weren't allowed to listen to Disney and I swear you could hear my heart break.

That's cool that Elder B remembered me cause I sure don't remember him. lol (Elder B is an elder who was serving in our ward, his first area, when she came home from China in 2011. He is now serving his last transfer in our ward again and remembered Kaylee)

lot of love.

Sister Johnson

Kaylee and her companion…hahahahaha

Bob

a few days ago Sister D says "you haven't met Mr. Bob yet have you?" "nooo..."
she goes to the corner of the kitchen by the back door.

she pulls out the pox and there lies...

a tortoise, a big tortoise named Bob

so we pulled him out and took some pictures.

for almost 3 weeks I've lived in this house and I didn't know of the tortoise living in the kitchen.

Greenie

November 18, 2013

Hey Mom,

Sad about the weather, it's still sunny here.

ok so my week...
Well we got 6 new investigators this week in Delta ward and some potentials:

We found a lovely lady who's not a member but her parents were and she has a deep seeded respect for the church. We hope we can meet her again and teach her more.

We met with a new gator, C, her, her husband, her daughter and her brother all took a lesson with us and it was really good. I think the whole family will be baptized.

We found a young man named R who goes to the local high school. He's really receptive and seemed genuinely glad to have us teach him.

D is progressing and we had a wonderful lesson with her. She prayed and it was just so spiritual that my comp and I were both crying.

We had interviews with the president and he is really impressed by our work. yay
We're hoping and praying for another set of sisters so we don't have to balance the work out. There's enough work for two sets and we're spread thin.

We got to attend a baptism on Friday, that was nice.

lots of love

Kaylee

Safe and Sound

First email from the field….

Hellooooo Mama,

I am safe and sound. Sorry about you not getting an email but life goes on.
Okidoki. So my companion is Sister D, she's from North Carolina and has been out about 3 months. She is real sweet and puts up with my inadequacies. All my district from the MTC came out to Colorado, same mission. We're over two wards, the Delta Ward and the Uncompaghre Ward. They've been having problems with some missionaries in the past so we got a lot of cleanup to do. I'm still trying to learn names and the like, mostly the investigators vs. less actives.

Sad face about my mug. (I washed her favorite mug in the dishwasher…it got ruined) I left the DO NOT DISHWASH with Skyler before we left. Oh, I did love the bag, thanks a bunch.

Weather has been really nice, like 14c all week, and lots of sun.

We live at a member's home but they're out of town until December so it's really just us and the wild cats…..ugh, the cats. Evil creatures…

On Thursday, my comp was sick, like real sick, so we had to stay home. I studied and drew most of the day.

Can't think of anything in particular that I need…ooooo pictures. I didn't bring any pictures of family and stuff. I'd like some of those please. When you send stuff use USPS and put my full name on it.

Welllll….I don't really know what else to say. Don't let the kids kill each other!

Love you lots and lots

Sister Johnson

Where in the world is Sister Johnson?

So... on Monday, November 4, 2013, Sister Johnson left the MTC for the wilds of Colorado. Well, Denver actually. We figured that the mission home would send us an email letting us know she had arrived and all was well, just like Chayce's did in Argentina. Not so. For 3 days we waited for an email and nothing came. So on Thursday (7th) I called the mission home and asked where the heck she was. The sister that answered the phone at the office just laughed and told me she would look it up for me. She remembered Kaylee arriving...something about the color of the top she was wearing.

Sister Johnson's first area is a town of about 9000 called Delta, Colorado. It is about 75km (47 miles) southeast of Grand Junction. Very rural place. She is living in a family home which is on a small acreage outside of town. So being the stalker mother I am, I googled it and found this street view…

Looks good to me!

First Letter......FINALLY!!

It's been over a week since Kaylee entered the MTC and we FINALLY got the first letter from her!

Happy Halloween!

It's finally PDay! sorry i couldn't tell you earlier but, you know.
haha funny thing. we can check our email everyday we just cant reply. OK so you sent the package on Saturday but by the time i got the slip the post office was closed. so i didn't get it until Monday. i had already read you email so i knew what it was before i got it. woot. also the letter i didn't get until Monday night. odd.

lots of stuff has happened, no kidding. My companions name is Sister R, she's nice and we get along well. i'm rooming with another companionship, Sister E and Sister N. we all love each other and the Elders in our district are awesome. all our Zone but us left earlier on in the week. Two of the elders had to be transferred to Saint George Utah. they were going to New Zealand and had to wait for visas but the MTC forgot about them and they were here for a long time. boor Elders. We've been teaching some 'investigators', 'Chris' and 'Jessica'. Chris is really excited about the Gospel and is going to be baptized. Jessica isn't interested in the church she just likes to know about religions.

hasn't snowed here yet but it's getting colder every day.
sorry about Buffy. :( sad face. (INSERT: Buffy is our pet Albino Hedgehog that died yesterday (30th) )

food is good, eating lots, (thanks for the cookies and MnM's) but we have gym almost every day so im working it off. more or less.... im actually really sore from yesterday.

went to the temple this morning at 6:30 in the morning! i almost fell asleep. Sister E did. lol

classes are good, days are long.

took me until Sunday to find Elder Rasmussen. I found Sister Di Olivera and Sister S, you know, the girl i met on Facebook.

I think that's all for now... no pic today sorry. We're leaving early Monday and probably wont get a PDay for until the Monday after. don't panic, i'm not dead.

lots of love, Chuu~

Sunday in Utah

Finally got to Utah, and the first thing we did was go to "Music and the Spoken Word" on Sunday morning at the Tabernacle. Front row seats :) It was great to be there, and it was a very good broadcast, the theme being "Simplify". Her daddy is going to miss her!
After the broadcast, we were able to spend some time on Temple Square just walking around and enjoying the weather. Ate some crabapples growing there and gathered a bunch of Chestnuts...why? Why not! Such gorgeous fall colours!!
After Temple Square, we spent some time driving around. Ended up at the Mt Timpanogos Temple. Again, gorgeous fall colours. We found a park right across the street from the temple and right in the middle was an apple tree, full of ripe apples. We had to try them, so up Maddy climbed, and boy, were they delicious! All in all, a wonderful, relaxing, peaceful Sunday.
So many ripe juicy apples!! Yummy!

Not quite ready, not quite set, but going anyway!

Before Kaylee left, she posed with her 2 younger siblings, Skyler (16) and Madison (14). They are both taller than her. She is officially the shortest sibling of the family. That's ok. I'm still shorter than her by 1/2"!
We left for Utah on October 18th. We spent the first night in Magrath with her grandparents, and then headed out at 5:30 the next morning. No problems at the border at all. It was quick...and we are grateful! So glad her U.S. VISA came with plenty of time to spare!
We stopped in Rexburg to visit Ashley, Kaylee's friend. They hadn't seen each other since Feb. 2012 when Ashley got married. Now they won't see each other until 2015. 30 minutes every 3 years is enough, right?

Mission Call

Kaylee received her mission call on May 27, 2013. Most of the family was there to watch it being opened (Skyler was in Japan), plus several friends. We all made our guess as to where Kaylee was going to be going and marked it on the world map. No one got a correct guess. The closest guess was to Salt Lake City.
Dear Sister Johnson, You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Colorado, Denver South Mission....you should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. You will prepare to preach the Gospel in the English language.
